Land care workshop offered in Odessa

Odessa, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will offer a free workshop on land management practices that benefit wildlife, waterways and farm operations 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9 at St. George Catholic Parish Hall, 706 S. Third St., in Odessa.
   This workshop will offer tips for farmers or for those who own property devoted to hunting and fishing opportunities. Topics covered will include:
·        Timber stand thinning to improve tree health and wildlife habitat.
·        MDC on-site assistance, cost share programs and USDA program opportunities.
·        Planting trees along creeks to hold soil.
·        Establishing native grasses and wildflowers for wildlife and cattle.
·        Buffer strips for wildlife habitat and cropland production.
