JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.– Discover the first wildflowers of spring on a nature hike March 24 at Big Oak Tree State Park near East Prairie. Sponsored by Missouri State Parks, the nature hike will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. and is free and open to the public.
This spring nature hike along the park’s boardwalk will showcase spring wildflowers and flowering trees of bottomland forests and swamps in the park. Participants also can expect to see mushrooms, numerous migratory songbirds and other wildlife.
The nature hike will begin at the Big Oak Tree Interpretive Center parking lot and proceed along the elevated boardwalk. Total distance traveled will be about 1.5 miles and will take approximately one hour. Bring your binoculars, cameras and sense of adventure for this fun-filled morning.
Big Oak Tree State Park is located approximately 15 miles south of East Prairie on Highway 102.
