MIssouri Outdoor News - Grouse, Trout, and Youth Outdoors Education

English: Rainbow trout

If you have seen the work of photographer Noppadol Paothong of the Missouri Department of Conservation, you will likely be happy to find out he has an exhibition upcoming at Missouri State Museum and Rozier Gallery.  The exhibition will be “Save the Last Dance – A Story of North American Grassland Grouse.” The exhibit runs through August 31st, and a reception with the artist will July 20th from 2 pm - 4 pm.  Call the museum at (573) 751-2854 for details.

In other Missouri outdoor news, the MDC reports that flooding has temporarily impacted rainbow trout growth at both the Montauk hatchery as well as the Maramec Springs hatchery.  The main impact for fishermen will be a slight decrease in size of stocked rainbows at Montauk State Park as well as Maramec Springs Trout Park.

Finally, young hunters and fishermen will have an opportunity to brush up skills or learn new ones at an event sponsored by the MDC and the National Wild Turkey Federation.  There will be all kinds of events at this Warrensburg event - trap shooting, how to pattern a shotgun, calling skills, fishing skills, archery, and more.  The event will run 8:30-3:30 on August 17th.  To register or just get more information, call the office at 660-530-5500.
