Image via WikipediaThe Mobility Impaired Deer Hunt is an annual event held at the Wappapello Lake. The hunt is designed to permit hunters with severe mobility impairment an opportunity for a quality hunting opportunity in a safe environment. Applications for the hunt are available and accepted in August of each year, with drawing and notification in September. Fifteen positions are available for a two-day hunt held during late October. This is not a managed hunt, nor is it a bonus deer. Zone regulations regarding deer permits and deer hunting apply. All hunters, regardless of age, are required to provide proof of completion of a certified hunter education course. Blinds are provided for participants, and the may be accompanied on the hunt. Persons accompanying successful applicants are not allowed to hunt, or possess a firearm.
